How to find Joy & Activate your Purpose

Joy & Purpose

To start the year off with a bang, I wanted to talk about Joy & Purpose.

What is it?

What does it mean?

The great thing about this topic is that just like a piece of abstract art it can be interpreted in a way that feels good to you.

For a little bit of help here are my definitions:

Joy – A feeling of great happiness & pleasure. To enjoy life and its moments with a smile.

Purpose – The motivation & driving force to follow your dreams. It comes from a niggling feeling inside your soul to do what you really, truly, deeply desire to be doing.

So, what do these words mean to you?

When you take the time to reflect on what brings you joy you could get a pretty big hint as to what your purpose is.

Because I believe that if you are enJOYing what you do you are living a purposeful life.

For me it’s creativity.

But your purpose could be to travel the world, to fight for a cause you believe in or even just simply to be happy.

Not sure where to start?

How about you make your own joy list by answering this question:

What are the top 5 activities that bring you joy?

Once you have identified what brings you joy, use that list to discover your purpose.

Open your mind, allow yourself to dream a little bit.

And then ask yourself how can I live my life in alignment with my purpose?

The more you allow yourself to connect to your joy and passion the closer you will get to activating your purpose.

The trick is to experiment, explore lots of different creative pursuits and stay connected to what makes you happy.

If things start to feel overwhelming, take a nice deep breath and choose an activity from your joy list.

When you shift your focus to joy you can create and live an abundant life.
